QUESTION: How many Ohio people died from lightning strikes in 2006?  How many of those were in the Columbus area? 

 

ANSWER: While all the data for 2006 is still not available, there were no lightning deaths in Ohio through August in 2006.  However, there were 12 injuries from lightning in Ohio through August of 2006, and all of these were in the southwestern part of the state.  Nationwide, there were 44 lightning deaths through the first of October, 2006.
